Health Care Voter Guide – 2024 Election

At NC Health News, we care about you and your family’s health and we think our elected officials should too. We started in August to reach out to all of North Carolina’s statewide candidates asking them to answer a series of questions about health care issues that you care about: opioids, mental health, health care costs, abortion, pandemics and more. For this voter guide, we asked the same set of questions for candidates in individual races, tailoring the questions to the responsibilities of the jobs they were running to fill.

How to use this guide:

Click on the race you’re interested in and the candidates for that office will pop up. The first seven races are statewide — governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, insurance commissioner and agricultural commissioner —meaning everyone can vote for them. Below that are the races of all of the Congressional candidates.

Click on the “learn more about” links to see answers to questions asked by the NC Health News team.

Not sure which Congressional district you’re in? Use this link to search by your name and check your voter registration status too.

Note: Many candidates did not answer our repeated requests for their opinions. In those cases, we went out and did extensive research on where the candidates stand, combing their websites, social media, other news outlets’ coverage, watching YouTube videos of interviews and sometimes attending campaign events (where possible). In short, we’ve tried our best to find answers for you and create as complete a voter guide as possible.

Because of complicated formatting, this guide is best viewed on a computer.
